Four Pasadena ISD elementary schools were named among the
state’s high performing schools by the National Center for
Educational Achievement.
Atkinson Elementary and Turner Elementary were recognized for
their increasing writing scores, while South Houston Elementary
and Young Elementary were honored for their rising scores in
math.
“This honor is a tribute to all of the hard work and dedication
by the teachers and staff at these campuses,” said Dr. Kirk
Lewis, Pasadena ISD superintendent.
Every year,
the National Center for Educational Achievement identifies
consistently higher performing schools in many states across the
country. The Pasadena schools were recognized by the NCEA
because of their outstanding performance across multiple grades
and years.
In the fall
of 2008, Atkinson and Turner elementary school’s were named
exemplary campuses by the Texas Education Agency for their
scores on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS)
assessment tests. The TEA also spotlighted South Houston
Elementary and Young as state recognized campuses.
The National
Center for Educational Achievement is the national sponsor of
Just for the Kids (JFTK), which provides school, district, and
other education leaders with essential system performance and
best practice information they need to make sound decisions.
