Several
students in Pasadena Memorial High School’s Future Career and
Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) program are advancing to
the state competition after an impressive showing at their
regional event.
Students
that received individual first place honors and advancing to
state are Stephanie Longoria, Griselda Morales, Keila Hernandez,
Ashley Guzman, Rebekah Lemons, Anna Cantu, Anail Cantu and
Michelle Alvarado. Samantha Cantu took third place honors and
will also advance to state. The state competition will be held
in April in Corpus Christi.
Gold medal
winners in the Leadership Enhance Opportunities category that
will advance to the state level include Anna Cantu, Nancy
Hernandez, Rebekah Lemons, Johanna Valenzuela, Cassie
Maciuklewicz, Sylvia Rodriguez, Evelyn Escobedo, Pryscila
Lozano, Antonio Otero and Taylor Chambers.
Memorial’s
FCCLA group is sponsored by instructor Ele Manry. This is the
fourth consecutive year where students have advanced to the
state competition.
"The
students put in numerous amounts of hours striving for
perfection,” she said. “They are well deserving of these
awards.”
