Dobie High School educator
Melissa McCalla-Allen was recently named the Texas Council of
Social Studies High School Teacher of the Year. McCalla-Allen
was presented the award at the TCSS Annual Convention in San
Antonio.
McCalla-Allen is a peer
facilitator and teaches Social Studies and Macroeconomics. “We
are very proud of the work she has done and she is very
deserving of this honor,” said Dobie principal Steve Jamail.
The TCSS is comprised of hundreds of Social
Studies teachers and administrators from around the state.
McCalla-Allen was humbled when
it was announced she had won the award. “It really is an honor
to have your fellow teachers recognize you for your contribution
