South Houston High School
theater students to present "proof"

The South Houston High School Department of Theatre will present “proof” by David Auburn at 7 p.m., March 12 in the school auditorium. Admission is free to the public.

In the production, Catherine, the daughter of a superb, yet mentally unstable mathematician, is fighting a battle to prove her sanity. All the while she is dealing with her fathers’ death which has led to one of his ex-students, Hal, coming to rummage through her fathers’ notes and her sister trying to sell her house. Her older sister, Claire, doubts that she is going to retain her sanity much longer and tries to persuade Catherine to move from Chicago to New York with her.

Meanwhile, the mathematic collaborations between Hal and Catherine result in Catherine giving Hal a notebook containing a proof she wrote. When Hal reads the proof he does not believe she could have written anything like it and thus starts yet another battle for Catherine to try to conquer.

The cast for “proof” includes Ana Patricia as Catherine, Victor Villarreal as Hal, Kevin Randall as Robert and Cristina Perez as Claire. The stage manager is Elizabeth Arrendondo.
