Several campuses in Pasadena ISD will host a variety of programs and
activities in honor of Veteran’s Day.
Many of the schools have invited veterans from the community and
representatives of different branches of the military. Here is a rundown
of upcoming Veteran’s Day events.
South Houston Intermediate
South Houston Intermediate’s annual Veteran’s Day program is scheduled
for 8 a.m., Monday, Nov. 10. In addition to musical performances,
certificates of appreciation will be handed out to all military veterans
in attendance.
Bondy Intermediate
Bondy Intermediate will honor local veterans with its annual Veterans
Day celebration at 7:45 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11. This event has been an
important part of what Bondy does for the community for the past 13
years. The focus is to celebrate local veterans with a breakfast and
ceremony on the campus. Every year a veteran who is also a member of the
community, a parent or grandparent of a Bondy student, or a staff member
is selected to speak to students.
Jackson Intermediate
After a grand entrance by the landing of an Army Apache helicopter on
the school’s football field, Jackson Intermediate’s ceremony will begin
at 8:45, Nov. 11. The program will feature performances by the school’s
band, orchestra and choir, followed by a veteran’s speech and student
readings. At the conclusion of the formal program, students will be able
to go tour the helicopter.
Pasadena High School
The patriotic music Eagle Alliance Band will be one of the highlights of
Pasadena High’s ceremonies, which will take place at 6:50 a.m., Nov. 11
in front of the school’s flagpole. Faculty member Leo Gonzales will also
be honored for his 30 years of service in the Navy.
Red Bluff Elementary
Red Bluff’s Veteran’s Day Parade will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 11.
The school-wide parade will lead out to the gymnasium where a formal
program is planned. An honor guard from Pasadena High School will
present the colors. Veterans from all branches of services are scheduled
to be in attendance.
Kruse Elementary
Kruse Elementary’s third grade students will present “A Salute to
Veterans” program at 6 p.m., Nov. 11 in the school gymnasium. The
program will be performed again at 8 a.m., Nov. 12.
Memorial High School
Pasadena Memorial High School is hosting a Veteran’s Day reception at 6
p.m., Nov. 11 in the school’s dining hall. At 7 p.m., a musical program
is planned.
