Pasadena ISD receives $52,000 grant
from Clean School Bus Program

The Pasadena ISD announced today the receipt of a grant totaling $52,223.00 from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s Clean School Bus Program. The program has a total of about $8 million available on a first-come, first-served basis for fiscal year 2009.

“A relatively small investment in a retrofit can reduce emissions by 70-80 percent” says Commissioner Larry R. Soward. “By installing these devices, we help protect the health of Texas school children.”

The Texas Education Agency reports that more than 33 percent of school buses in local fleets are more than 10 years old. The Clean School Bus Program offers funding and resources to Texas schools to reduce the emissions of diesel exhaust from school buses.
