Dobie Chamber Orchestra wins national award

The Dobie High School Chamber Orchestra has been selected as a national winner by the National Orchestral Honors Project.

“The Dobie Orchestra is a fine example for orchestras everywhere and a credit to your district,” said Rick Yancey, director of the National Orchestra Honors Project.

As part of the guidelines Dobie entered recordings of selected musical pieces for the national competition. The music of the nationally-honored orchestras will now be included on a CD.

Dobie’s Orchestra is directed by Tanner Ledford and Alice McCoy.

“I am so proud of our musicians,” Ledford said. “They are very talented and put in many hours of practice in and out of school. They are very deserving of this honor.”
