How to become a substitute teacher
The Substitute Office
is currently accepting applications to fill substitute positions.
Please follow the
steps below for consideration:
- Complete an
online application at
www.pasadenaisd.org and create an account.
- Choose
Non-Certified Teacher in the Category menu.
- Apply to the
Substitute Teacher posting.
- Complete
Criminal History information.
- All applicants
must demonstrate oral proficiency in English.
Once you have
applied gather the following information:
- Official
Transcripts bearing the college seal or the registrar’s signature,
demonstrating no less than 60 semester hours (official U.S.
equivalent evaluation is required, if transcript is from a non-U.S.
college) and a 2.0 GPA.
- Documents to
show eligibility to work in the United States. Most commonly,
applicants will provide a driver’s license and a Social Security
Card, though other documents are acceptable. If you have questions
about documents, please contact Debbie Garza at
djgarza@pasadenisd.org or Donna Youngblood at
dyoungblood@pasadenaisd.org
- A Social
Security card is required for payroll purposes, even if it is not
presented to satisfy the right to work documentation. Note: for
tax purposes, every employee must be hired under the name indicated
on the Social Security card.
- A voided check
or a letter from your bank with your account information to set up
direct deposit, if you prefer.
Once your
application is reviewed by the Substitute Office you will receive an
email inviting you to register for the next Substitute Orientation.
Offers of
employment are extended on an approved Criminal History, attendance of
the Substitute Orientation and completed paperwork. |
