1 to 1 Student Device Information
Pasadena Independent School District is proud to be a 1:1 district, providing each student with their own computer, charger, as well as academic and productivity software. This initiative ensures that every student has equal access to digital learning resources both in the classroom and at home. By equipping our students with individual devices, we aim to enhance their educational experience, promote digital literacy, and prepare them for an increasingly technology-driven world.
OPTIONAL Student Device Coverage
OPTIONAL Student Device Coverage is provided by Securranty for $25.
Coverage provides protection for:
- Accidental Damage
- Theft
- Standard Perils (Flood, Fire, Vandalism.)
Please note that student device coverage is optional. If coverage is desired, it must be purchased per student and includes unlimited claims per year, with no deductible. Coverage also transfers when a student exchanges a device.
The Technology Support Services department will process claims for covered devices.
Here is an example of how the process would work:
- Student is issued a device.
- Coverage must be purchased within 30 calendar days after a device is issued. For most students, that deadline has passed. However, new students may to purchase coverage by calling 832-304-2015 or by email at support@securranty.com
- The device bar code or serial number does not need to be provided when coverage is purchased.
- If the student experiences a covered incident (such as a cracked screen), the student brings the device to the school’s Campus Support Technician.
- The Campus Support Technician confirms that the student is covered, then issues the student a replacement device.
- The Campus Support Technician processes the claim and updates the newly issued device bar code in the insurance system.
Pasadena ISD Student Handbook
Fees, Fines and Repair Each student is issued a computer in good working order with standardized software. Students are expected to keep the computer in good condition. Failure to do so could result in out of pocket costs summarized in the table below. All student device fees must be paid in full.
Accidental Damage and Acceptable Condition Protection Coverage (“Coverage”) may be provided as an annual insurance offered to students and parents/guardians by the Pasadena Independent School District (“PISD”) or by a designated insurance carrier. This Coverage is offered as a form of insurance to help parents avoid unexpected out of pocket expenses. It is strongly encouraged that parents/guardians consider purchasing this coverage.
- Students found with inappropriate files on their computer will have the computer re- imaged and will be charged a $15.00 re-image fee.
- Missing or stolen computers must be reported immediately to school administrators.
- It is the responsibility of the student/parent to provide information for a Pasadena ISD police report by the soonest available school day. This police report demonstrating evidence of theft must accompany any claim of theft.
- If a computer is deemed intentionally damaged or persistent damage is noted, the student is responsible for the full cost of the repair.
It is the responsibility of the student and parent/guardian to report any theft, loss, or damage of a district-issued device to the appropriate authority and provide documentation to the school by the next available school day when possible.
For incidents occurring on or off school property (e.g., theft, car accidents):
- A complete police report must be filed with the law enforcement agency where the incident occurred.
- The parent/guardian must provide a copy of the official police report to the school, delivered to the Campus Technology staff.
- An incident number alone is not sufficient.
- The police report must include specific device details, including make, model, and serial number, to be considered valid documentation. Specific details can be provided by the Campus Technology staff.
For incidents involving fire or other emergency events (e.g., house fire):
- The parent/guardian must obtain a report from the local fire department or fire marshal.
- The report must include confirmation that the device was lost or damaged in the incident, along with device details (make, model, and serial number).
Claims submitted without the required documentation or without sufficient device details may not covered under the optional device insurance.
