College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR)

At Pasadena ISD, we believe every student deserves a clear path to a successful future. College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) means ensuring that all students graduate prepared for their next step—whether that is attending college, entering the workforce, or serving in the military.

Pasadena ISD offers a wide range of opportunities to help students explore their interests, develop real‑world skills, and reach their goals. From advanced academic programs and dual credit courses to career and technical education (CTE) programs, industry certifications, and military preparation options, students can choose a pathway that best fits their future plans.

The resources on this webpage are designed to guide students and families through these options and expectations. They will help students understand the readiness levels needed to succeed after graduation and provide support every step of the way—whether planning for college, launching a career, or enlisting in the military.

AVID

AVID, which stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a comprehensive educational system designed to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.

AVID equips students in K-12 with a variety of skills and strategies that are essential for academic success and beyond.

 

AVID Supports

Academic Skills

  • Organization: AVID teaches students how to use planners, binders, and other organizational tools to keep track of assignments and manage their time effectively.
  • Study Habits: Students learn effective study techniques, such as note-taking, summarizing information, and preparing for exams.
  • Critical Thinking: AVID encourages students to think critically and ask questions, which helps them understand and engage with the material more deeply.

 

 

College and Career Readiness

  • College Awareness: AVID provides information about college options, application processes, and financial aid, helping students navigate the path to higher education.
  • Career Exploration: Through guest speakers, career fairs, and other activities, students learn about various career paths and what it takes to succeed in different fields.
