High School Summer Programs 2025

In-Person Learning for CREDIT RECOVERY & STAAR Review

Students who need to recover course credits or review for retaking STAAR End of Course exams may register for in-person instruction.  Students will take online coursework tailored to their individual needs supported by a certified teacher to facilitate and intervene to ensure student success.

Locations

  • Pasadena High School (North Program) serves students from PHS, SHHS, SRHS, and students in the north attendance zones who attend CTHS, and TCS
  • J. Frank Dobie High School (South Program) serves students from DHS, PMHS, and students in the south attendance zones who attend CTHS, and TCS

Dates and Times

  • June 2-17 (Mondays-Fridays)
  • 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Remote Learning for INITIAL CREDIT

Students who desire to stay on track for graduation but need room in their following school year’s schedule for dual credit courses, extra curricular participation, and career pathway coursework may take initial credit courses through Pasadena Virtual School.  Learning will occur remotely with support from a live certified instructor.  Students have ongoing support for technology, content help, and motivation.

Locations

  • Remote learning location is student-driven
  • Support for learning and technology issues is available

  • June 2 – July 21 
  • Virtual support available upon request and during instructor office hours

Services & Cost

  • Technology provided
  • Tuition for Initial Credit is $75 per half credit; Early College High School students attend FREE

 

In-Person ADVANCED MATHEMATICS ACADEMY

Students who desire to advance their mathematics learning to be able to reach AP Calculus and beyond during high school may take Pre-AP Geometry or Honors PreCalculus in a face-to-face format.  The Advanced Mathematics Academy is an intense, fast-paced, program of student supported by highly qualified mathematics instructors.

  • J. Frank Dobie High School (South Program) serves students from DHS, PMHS, and students in the south attendance zones who attend CTHS, and TCS

In-Person ENGLISH for SPEAKERS of OTHER LANGUAGES (ESOL) ACADEMY

Students who are new English language learners are invited to attend the ESOL Academy to support continued English language development over the summer.  Students can also earn any English course credits they may have missed due to mid-semester enrollment.  The ESOL Academy includes elements meant to provide students with enriching experiences in the community.

COLLEGIATE SCHOLARS

This summer program offers high performing students targeted, personalized learning experience to bolster their PSAT/SAT skills, boosting their chances of achieving National Merit recognition.  Classes are about 3.5 hours each day for 10 days.  Tuition is free for qualified students.

  • J. Frank Dobie High School (South Program) serves students from DHS, PMHS, and students in the south attendance zones who attend CTHS, and TCS

GRADUATION RECOVERY

Students who are not on track to graduate with their class may attend Graduation Recovery at Tegeler Community School. Space is limited, and priority is given to students classified as 12th grade.  Both initial and remedial credit classes will be offered in a face-to-face setting through a self-paced, blended format.  Students are only eligible to enroll with a Counselor’s recommendation and may enroll for up to 4 classes to earn up to 2.0 credits.

STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) EXAM RETESTING

Students who DID NOT MEET STAAR EOC standards will retest at DHS, PHS, or CTHS depending on the student’s home campus.

  • J. Frank Dobie High School (South Program) serves students from DHS, PMHS, and students who reside in the south attendance zones who attend TCS
  • Dr. Kirk Lewis Career & Technical High School  serves students who attend CTHS

Payment Information

TUITION

  • Tuition is $75 per half credit.  
  • Test preparation courses (no credit) are FREE. 
  • Tuition for Graduation Recovery Tegeler Community School is $150 for up to 4 half credits.
  • Tuition payments are to be made through Skyward. 
  • The preferred method of payment is by credit card.  Make arrangements for cash payment with your school’s Counselors office.

TUITION REFUNDS

  • Refunds may be requested through the student’s home school’s Counselors office. 
  • The deadline for a refund request is Monday, June 2 at noon
  • No refund requests will be accepted after the deadline. 
  • Students who are removed from summer school for non-attendance or violations of the student code of conduct are not eligible for a tuition refund.

Code of Conduct

ATTENDANCE

Students are expected to attend 100% of the summer school session.  No exceptions are made for illness or appointments.  Tardiness is not tolerated.  Students who are tardy must make up all assignments and time.  After two incidents of tardiness, the student will be dropped from summer school and not tuition will be refunded.

CONDUCT

Students are to follow the District Code of Conduct during summer school.  Due to the short nature of summer classes, violations of the code of conduct will result in removal from summer school and, if applicable, can result in placement at The Summit at the beginning of the 2025-26 school year.  No refunds are given for violations of the code of conduct that result in removal from summer school.
