Pasadena ISD is committed to managing the District’s resources in a fiscally responsible and transparent manner. The District endeavors to provide relevant and timely information to assist taxpayers in making informed decisions and understanding how their tax dollars are spent.

Recently, Pasadena ISD has been the target of several failed phishing attempts. There have also been multiple cases of fraudulent activity involving Texas public school districts resulting in significant loss of public funds. Public entities have become prime targets due to the amount of information readily accessible.

Due to the fact that the publication of detailed information on school district websites containing vendors and amount pad can provide perpetrators with information necessary to launch sophisticated phishing attacks, posting of school district check registers are no longer required.

We remain vigilant in our efforts to safeguard the Districts’ resources and must weigh the inherent risk of misuse against the overarching benefit of the information intended for our stakeholders. As such, as of August 2020, the District will no longer post the accounts payable check register online.

As an alternative to posting, interested citizens can submit a request for these reports. We will promptly send the reports directly to the contact email once the validity of the request has been verified.

 Thank you for your understanding.

Pasadena ISD Receives Recognition for Transparency Efforts in Traditional Finances
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced Pasadena ISD is the latest local government entity to achieve a Transparency Star as recognition of excellence in Traditional Finances.
Transparency Stars recognizes local government entities that provide easy online access to important financial data. The Comptroller’s office launched the Transparency Stars program in March 2016 to recognize cities, counties and school districts making important strides to greater government transparency.
Local government entities can apply for stars in the areas of:
- Traditional Finances,
- Contracts and Procurement,
- Economic Development,
- Public Pensions, and
- Debt Obligations,
- Open Government and Compliance
“Pasadena ISD has shown a continued commitment to providing taxpayers with a clear and meaningful analysis of its financial data. This effort achieves the goals set by my office’s Transparency Stars program,” Hegar said. “I am pleased to recognize Pasadena ISD for going above and beyond in its transparency efforts and being awarded for receiving the Traditional Finances Transparency Star.”
After receiving an initial star for Traditional Finances, remaining stars may be awarded in any order. For more information on the program, including specific guidelines and information on how to apply, visit the Comptroller’s Transparency Stars website.
