Cindy Garcia

District Specialist, Bilingual ES Mathematics

Cindy is an educator with 18 years of experience. As a district specialist supporting elementary mathematics, she believes that all PISD students are capable mathematicians! Some of her current responsibilities include creating curriculum resources, facilitating professional learning sessions, providing instructional support to campus leaders, working closely with mathematics instructional coaches, and developing teacher leaders. She is proud to support all math language learners by working with elementary math leaders and teachers to build their collective capacity to facilitate rigorous, engaging, and hands-on mathematics instruction. She works with teachers and math coaches to guide students to develop a positive disposition towards mathematics, be problem solvers, and engage in productive struggle. She collaborates with math coaches and administrators on how to bring the district's K-12 Mathematics Framework to fruition. Cindy has previously worked as a PISD math coach and bilingual teacher. She received her bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies-Bilingual Education from the University of Houston and her master's degree in Educational Management from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
