Emily Rhymer

Campus Specialist, Reading Language Arts

Emily Rhymer is an English Campus Content Specialist with over twelve years of experience in the Secondary English classroom in Pasadena Independent School District. Emily is committed to fostering inclusive and supportive environments for English language learners. She is passionate about providing academic and socio-emotional support to marginalized communities, ensuring all students have access to quality education.

Emily has held various roles within Pasadena ISD since 2012, including as an English teacher, English as a Second Language teacher, and English Campus Content Specialist. She currently serves the students and educators at South Houston High School. She holds a Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor's in English from Louisiana State University. Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Emily relocated to Texas with her husband, who owns a small business specializing in Louisiana aquaculture. This move not only marked a new chapter in their lives but also deepened Emily's appreciation for the diversity of cultures and communities in Texas.

Throughout her career, Emily has designed curriculum and instructional materials that reflect diversity and cultural relevance and learning experiences that promote cultural awareness and understanding. She believes in the importance of integrating diverse perspectives into the curriculum, allowing students to engage with a variety of cultures and experiences. Her work involves collaborating with educators to create lessons that not only adhere to state standards but also celebrate the rich tapestry of student backgrounds. Emily is committed to continuous learning and creating equitable educational opportunities for all students.
