Starting Spring 2018, Texas transitioned to a new grading system that assigns school ratings on an ‘A – F’ grading scale. The Texas Education Agency released a list of indicators that will be used to calculate grades using a four domain system. Ratings will be given in four categories and one overall grade, based on a list of indicators, including student achievement, student progress, student population, and postsecondary readiness. TEA released updates to the system annually.
Given the impact of COVID-19, all districts and schools received a label of Not Rated: Declared State of Disaster for their 2020 accountability ratings. Ratings for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 school years have not been released due to a pending judicial ruling.
