Stadium Policies

New Clear Bag Policy for Pasadena Independent School District Venues

Starting the 2024-2025 school year, Pasadena ISD will begin to enforce a Clear Bag Policy at various venues across the district, including: Veterans Memorial Stadium/Newcomb Field, Weldon 'Stoney' Phillips Field House, the Pasadena Auxiliary Stadium, Maguire Field, the Pasadena ISD Sports Complex and Dennis L. Shippey Aquatic Center. This new policy will provide a safer environment for the public and significantly expedite entry. 

 

Pasadena ISD’s clear bag policy will limit the type of bags that may be brought into venues. Here are the new guidelines to follow:

 

Approved Bags

  • Clear Bags - Ziplocs, Totes, Backpacks (no size limitations but must be transparent.)
  • Diaper bags (Must be accompanied with a small child)
  • Non–Transparent Purses/Bags - Must not exceed 6”x9”x5” (Purselets for medically necessary items after proper inspection)

 

Prohibited Items:

  • Coolers
  • Briefcases
  • Non-clear backpacks
  • Duffel Bags
  • Cinch Sacks 
  • Grocery Bags

 

Current Pasadena ISD policies and UIL rules will be enforced at all times. State laws and school policies will continue to be in effect concerning alcoholic beverages, controlled substances, weapons and distribution of any type of literature.

 

Stadium Policies

  • Balloons, firearms, knives, live animal mascots, pyrotechnic devices, cannons, fireworks, etc., are prohibited at League athletic contests. 
  • Except in their normal course of business, emergency vehicles shall not flash lights or sound sirens during the course of a game. Releasing balloons is prohibited at athletic events held outdoors (Section 1208(M): Athletic regulations). 
  • Items such as whistles, air horns, confetti, skateboards, scooters, Frisbees, roller blades, balls of any kind (excluding balls used by spirit groups), and bicycles are not permitted in the stadium. Portable heaters are not permitted inside the stadium.
  • The District also has the right to prohibit any other object being brought into the stadium if it is considered a safety risk. 
  • Signs are permitted only on the fence in front of the home or visitor stands. Signs in poor taste shall be removed. Flags on poles, fatheads or signs larger than a hand- towel are not allowed in the bleachers. 
  • Outside food, drinks and coolers shall not be brought into the stadium.
  • Glass bottles are prohibited. 
  • The use of tobacco, vaporizers/e cigs and alcohol products is prohibited inside the stadium and on all school property. 
  • There can be no use of drones at any contest.
  • Food, candy in excess, seeds of any type (sunflower, etc.) are not allowed to be brought into the stadium.
  • Pointed objects or objects with sharp and uneven edges are not allowed to be brought into the stadium or on the field. This includes any props used by the cheerleaders, band or drill team. The sidelines must be kept free of any equipment that might injure an athlete. 
  • Spectators may not be allowed on the field before or after the game. Only students of school organized and approved activities will be allowed on the field.
  • Victory lines shall be limited to school- sponsored groups on the field. • No loitering will be permitted. 
  • Anyone on the sideline not in uniform must have a sideline pass or district ID badge. Anyone without a proper pass or ID will be asked to leave the area. No one is allowed to stand, photograph or film from the end zone.
  • Fans will not be allowed to go from side to side or congregate under the stands. 
  • Due to security concerns, CLEAR backpacks and handbags are being utilized at PISD Athletic facilities.
  • Only emergency vehicles may be parked inside the stadium. No vehicle of any kind will be allowed to drive into the stadium (unless approved by the District Athletic Director). 
  • No products/merchandise may be sold inside or outside the stadium without permission from the Pasadena ISD Athletic Office.
  • Spectators leaving the stadium will not be allowed to reenter without paying.
  • The stadiums will be open 1 hour before game time.
  • No commercial signage, advertising, or giveaways, including food and promotional items, are allowed in accordance with Pasadena ISD Athletic Guidelines.
  • Printed materials may not be distributed on PISD property in accordance with District policy.
  • Any banners, promotional signs, trailers with promotional activities, or promotional events that are intended to be held in the parking lot must be approved (content and location) in advance by the Athletic Director. Requests should be made at least two weeks in advance of the event.
  • Streaming will be available for all football games on the Pasadena ISD Athletics YouTube channel. @PasadenaISDAthletics
  • Unauthorized streaming is not allowed.
  • Press box access must be requested in advance at the Pasadena ISD Athletic Office (713-740-0837).
