Prepare for Pre-K Enrollment

  •  

    • Full-Day Program: A comprehensive full-day school experience designed for 4-year-old children.
    • Transportation Eligibility: Students may qualify for bus transportation if they meet the established district guidelines and criteria. Eligibility is determined based on factors such as distance from the school, special program requirements, and other transportation policies.
    • Supportive Environment: A safe, nurturing space where children are encouraged to explore, learn, and grow. The program is grounded in Conscious Discipline strategies, with social-emotional skills embedded throughout the curriculum.
    • Individualized Attention: Class sizes are capped at 22 students to ensure each child receives personalized support and guidance.
    • Family Engagement: We actively partner with families to foster strong home-school connections, promoting consistent support for each child’s development.
    • Highly Qualified Educators: Our teachers are experienced in early childhood education and receive ongoing coaching and professional development to maintain high instructional standards.
    • High-Quality Instruction: The curriculum incorporates developmentally appropriate practices—including structured play, guided learning, and rest—to build foundational skills in:
      • Language development
      • Early literacy
      • Mathematical readiness
      • Social-emotional competence
      • Science concepts
      • Social Studies concepts
    • Language-Rich Instructional Models: PISD offers diverse language programs to meet the needs of all learners:
      • English-Only Instruction
      • Dual Language (90/10 Model): Spanish and English instruction to support language development in our bilingual classrooms
  • To qualify, your child must be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2025 and meet at least one of the following criteria:

    Limited English Proficiency

    • Determined after completing the Home Language Survey and Oral Language Proficiency Test.

    • Final approval by the LPAC committee.

    • Child must be present at registration for oral language assessment.

    Educationally Disadvantaged

    • Eligibility is determined when the student qualifies under the income guidelines of the National School Lunch Program. Parents must provide proof of household income in one of the following forms:

      • Current Paystub

      • Employer letter stating gross wages and pay frequency

      • Disability payment stub

      • SNAP or TANF documentation

    Classroom Teacher

    • Parent must be a classroom teacher (not aide or administrator) teaching at least 4 hours daily.

    • Child qualifies if parent teaches in a district offering Pre-K.

    Homeless

    • Defined by 42 U.S. Code Section 1143a.

    • Eligibility confirmed by PISD Homeless Liaison.

    Military

    • Parent must be active duty or injured/killed while serving.

    • Provide military ID or official documentation at enrollment.

    Foster Care

    • Child is or was in conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services.

    • Provide official letter at enrollment.

    Star of Texas Award

    • Child of a recipient qualifies.

    • Present the resolution certificate at enrollment.

    • Military: Military orders or ID card
  • Required Documents at Registration

    • Proof of Age & Identity: Original or certified copy of birth certificate.

    • Immunization Record: Must be current.

    • Proof of Residency (2 required):

      • Deed or mortgage booklet

      • Current Lease or rental agreement

      • Current Utility bill (water, gas, electric, landline phone)

    Please note: If your residence or housing is uncertain, you lack a permanent physical address or live at a temporary address, you can still enroll in school. Contact the school's attendance clerk or school district's homeless liaison office at 713-740-0250 for more information.

  • If your child does not meet eligibility guidelines, Pasadena ISD offers a tuition-based Pre-K program:

    • For children age 4 by September 1, 2025

    • Sliding fee scale based on household income

    • Monthly tuition starts at $411.11

    • Transportation available for in-district students

  • Your Texas Benefits

    • Medicaid (Health Care)
