Amy Whalen is a librarian at Dr. Kirk Lewis Career and Technical High School. As she embarks on the 2024-2025 school year, she celebrates her 26th year in education and her 21st year as a school librarian for Pasadena ISD. A proud alumnus of South Houston High School, Amy holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in Early Childhood, as well as a Master's Degree in Library Science and Administration from the University of Houston – Clear Lake.

Amy began her teaching journey as a fifth-grade reading teacher at Mae Smythe Elementary within the Pasadena Independent School District. Over the years, she has served students across all grade levels, from Pre-K to 12th grade, either in the classroom or as a librarian. As an Original Knight, she is recognized as one of the founding members of the CTHS staff. Since its establishment, the Knights’ Library Program has been dedicated to fostering a passion for reading among all students. Amy is devoted to empowering students to successfully navigate the global community by providing unique educational experiences that encourage critical thinking, informed decision-making, and personal growth.

Beyond her responsibilities as a librarian, Amy has had the privilege of presenting on literacy and technology at various levels, including campus, district, and regional forums. She is an active member of the Campus Leadership Team for CTHS, showcasing her dedication to both her campus and the community.
