Amanda Buffalo was the first female athlete in Pasadena ISD history to win a state championship, taking the 800-meter track title in 1985 while at Pasadena High. A multi-talented athlete, she also excelled in cross country, earning a fourth-place finish at the state meet.

She continued her career at Stephen F. Austin State University, setting multiple school records and winning several conference titles. Buffalo was inducted into the Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013, recognizing her groundbreaking achievements in track and field.
