Gawain Guy was a track and cross-country star at Dobie High School and Rice University. He won state championships in both track and cross country, including the 800m and 1600m events, and set national-best times in the mile and relay races. At Rice, he earned All-America honors and set a school record in the metric mile. A native of Jamaica, he represented his country in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Guy was inducted into the Rice Athletics Hall of Honor and the Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame in 2013.
