Bob Barfield was a legendary football coach for Pasadena High School, leading the Eagles for 15 seasons. In his debut 1958 season, he took the Eagles to the state championship game, a feat no other Pasadena ISD football team has matched. Barfield's teams won three district titles and made seven playoff appearances.
After coaching, he served as an assistant athletic director until his retirement in 1977. In 1984, he was elected to the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor, and the Pasadena High School gymnasium is named in his honor. Barfield passed away in 2002.
