Bill Henry was a legendary pitcher with a 16-year Major League Baseball career, though he first gained fame as an All-State basketball player on Pasadena High School's 1946 state champion team. After pitching for the first University of Houston baseball team, he went on to play for six MLB teams, including the Cincinnati Reds and the Chicago Cubs. A two-time All-Star, he appeared in the 1961 World Series and is considered one of baseball's first relief pitching specialists. Henry was posthumously inducted into the Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.
