Pasadena ISD Family,
This evening at Pasadena Memorial High School, an elderly male walked into the entrance to the auditorium during a drum line competition.  He was in possession of a weapon and he discharged it.  The individual with the weapon was immediately tackled by a parent attending the event.  Pasadena ISD Police, a civilian, and several good Samaritans immediately apprehended the suspect.  One victim who was an adult male was shot in the shoulder and has been transported to the hospital.  At this time, we do not know his condition. The shooter was not affiliated with the band contest and it is currently being investigated why he was at the campus.  Pasadena Police Department and Pasadena ISD Police will be working together on the investigation.
Pasadena ISD crisis counselors will be at Pasadena Memorial on Monday for students and staff. As well as at other campuses for students and staff that may have been impacted. Additional security will be provided all next week as we work to continue to keep our campuses safe.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved. I am so proud of our staff members, police from our district and city, and community members who made sure there was no further harm that could have taken place.
