J. Frank Dobie High School Honors WNBA Champion Karima Christmas- Kelly with Banner Reveal

PASADENA, Texas — On November 14, Dobie High School honored one of their many accomplished alumni with a banner reveal celebration honoring Mrs. Karima Christmas - Kelly former WNBA superstar. The celebration highlighted her historic career and lasting impact on the community.
Christmas-Kelly, a 2007 Dobie graduate, was a three sport letter athlete in volleyball, basketball and track. She helped lead Dobie’s girls basketball team to its only state tournament appearance in 2004 and earned numerous accolades, including All District MVP and All American honors. Christmas-Kelly’s No.13 jersey was retired in 2017, and she was inducted into the Dobie Hall of Honor in 2018. Later in 2019 she was inducted into the Pasadena ISD Athletic Hall of Fame.

After high school, Christmas Kelly attended Duke University, where she won two ACC championships and earned multiple tournament honors. In 2011, she was drafted by the Washington Mystics and went on to play 10 seasons in the WNBA, winning a championship with the Indiana Fever in 2012. Today, she serves as an assistant coach for the Fever, helping lead the team to a Commissioners Cup title and a semifinal appearance in 2025.
Beyond her athletic achievements, Christmas- Kelly has remained deeply connected to Pasadena ISD and Dobie High School. She organized relief efforts for families after Hurricane Harvey and has mentored countless students by sharing her story and encouraging them to pursue success in many ways on and off the court.
