Dobie High School Celebrates 2026 Hall of Honor Inductees


J. Frank Dobie High School proudly hosted its Hall of Honor Ceremony on February 20, recognizing an outstanding group of individuals whose lives and careers reflect the very best of Longhorn pride.This year’s ceremony welcomed seven new inductees, four distinguished alumni, two faculty members, and one dedicated community volunteer.
The 2026 Dobie Hall of Honor Inductees:
Captain Larry Arcement, Jr. – Class of 1974
At Dobie, Larry Arcement built the foundation for a lifetime of leadership through band, scouting, and academic excellence. A dedicated trombonist and Eagle Scout, he carried those lessons to Texas A&M University on a four-year Navy ROTC scholarship before commissioning into the U.S. Navy Supply Corps in 1978. Over a distinguished 28-year career, Captain Arcement served globally in key operational and command roles, earning numerous honors including the Legion of Merit. After retiring, he continued mentoring students as a Senior Naval Science Instructor, reflecting a lifelong commitment to service and leadership rooted in his Dobie experience.
Laura Dominguez Chan – Class of 1985
A standout student at Dobie, Laura Dominguez Chan excelled academically while participating in band, cross country, track, and National Honor Society. Her passion for learning led her to Stanford University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology, followed by a master’s in counseling psychology. She spent more than 30 years at Stanford, rising to Associate Dean of the Career Education Center and helping thousands of students find meaningful career paths. Recognized with Stanford’s prestigious Amy J. Blue Award, Laura’s career reflects the academic excellence and dedication she first demonstrated as a Dobie Longhorn.
Remi Yusef – Class of 2002
At Dobie, Remi Yusef was a three-year varsity basketball standout, earning multiple All-District honors, District MVP, and helping lead the Longhorns to a District Championship and Regional Quarterfinal appearance. He continued his success at Texas A&M–Kingsville on a full scholarship, scoring more than 1,500 career points and earning conference and national recognition. After playing professionally overseas, Remi founded the Be A 9th Wonder Foundation in honor of his late sister, dedicating his life to empowering youth, particularly children with special needs and underserved communities. His journey from Longhorn athlete to global advocate exemplifies resilience, leadership, and service.
Sgt. Major Alan Daigle – Class of 2005
While at Dobie, Alan Daigle developed discipline and teamwork through the Longhorn Marching Band and Robotics Club, interests that helped shape his future path. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he quickly advanced through the ranks. Wounded in Iraq in 2006 and awarded the Purple Heart, Daigle continued to serve with distinction, ultimately being selected as Sergeant Major in 2023. Now serving as Command Senior Enlisted Leader for 3rd Force Reconnaissance Company, 4th Marine Division, his decorated military career reflects the perseverance, leadership, and Longhorn pride formed during his high school years.
Coach John Bryan – Faculty
As one of Dobie High School’s original faculty members in 1968, Coach John Bryan helped build the school’s athletic tradition from the ground up. Serving as a teacher, department head, and coach in football, track, and cross country, he led Dobie to its first district football championship and later guided the track team to back-to-back state championships in 1980 and 1981. Over his career, he coached multiple state champions and earned numerous coaching honors, leaving a lasting legacy of excellence. For decades, Coach Bryan shaped not only winning teams, but generations of student-athletes who carried his lessons far beyond the field.
Donna Branch – Faculty
A standout athlete at Sam Rayburn High School and later at Texas A&M, Donna Branch brought her competitive spirit and leadership to Pasadena ISD, where she became one of the most influential figures in Dobie athletics. As the most successful girls’ athletics coach in district history, her volleyball teams consistently advanced deep into the playoffs, earning a reputation for excellence, discipline, and teamwork. In 2003, she transitioned into campus leadership as an assistant principal, later serving as Assistant Athletic Director, expanding her impact beyond the court. Inducted into the Pasadena ISD Hall of Fame in 2016, Branch retired in 2025 after decades of shaping student-athletes and elevating girls’ athletics, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, integrity, and mentorship.
Seth Webb – Community Volunteer
Seth Webb’s life was defined by service to family and community. A respected professional in the NASA and commercial aerospace industry for more than two decades, he balanced a demanding career with an extraordinary commitment to the South Belt community and Dobie High School. Seth served in numerous leadership roles, including Chairman of the Sagemeadow HOA Board, President and Founder of the South Belt Community Partnership, and President of the Dobie Band Parent Organization. Known for his willingness to step up and “figure out how to make it happen,” he supported students, families, and local initiatives with humility and dedication. His lasting impact on Dobie and the broader community reflects a legacy of quiet leadership, generosity, and unwavering service.
The 2026 Hall of Honor inductees embody courage, leadership, service, and excellence. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to current students and stand as a testament to the enduring legacy of J. Frank Dobie High School.
