Pasadena ISD named 2025 -2026 Texas Way District of Distinction

Pasadena, TX— Pasadena Independent School District has been named a 2025–26 Texas Way District of Distinction by the Texas High School Coaches Association and the University Interscholastic League, recognizing its commitment to sportsmanship, respect and character in athletics.
The honor was announced June 3 at the Texas High School Athletic Directors Association Convention in Round Rock. Pasadena ISD was one of 38 districts statewide to earn the distinction out of roughly 1,200 UIL-participating districts, highlighting its efforts to promote sportsmanship, positive fan behavior and respect at athletic events.
The Texas Way initiative, developed with statewide athletic partners and 2Words Character Development, focuses on improving conduct at high school and junior high competitions.
District Athletic Director Patrick Longstreet said the district saw measurable progress in the program’s second year, including fewer player and coach ejections and improved behavior across multiple sports. Schools participating in “Play the Texas Way” also reported positive community impact and strong examples of character from athletes and coaches.
Honored districts will receive a commemorative banner and certificate, with additional recognition planned at Coaching School in July as the initiative enters its third year in implementation.
