To say Karima has had a successful basketball career, would be putting it mildly. Karima has emerged from her days as a Dobie Longhorn and established herself as one of the most dominant players in the WNBA.
In February, she signed with the Minnesota Lynx just after soaring as a guard of the Dallas Wings. Just last season, she averaged 44.4 percent from the three-point line in her six games and about 5 rebounds per game in her past 4 seasons. And her 3-point shooting has continued to improve year after year. When Karima was a full-time starter for the Tulsa Shock-turned-Dallas Wings, she was an 81 percent free throw shooter.
When she joined the Indiana Fever she got an early experience in the WMBA Finals, but not just any finals experience, going up against the Minnesota Lynx. She played in games 2, 3, and 4, and in the deciding game 4 of the finals, Karima sunk all 4 of her free throw shots where she got her first taste of championship glory!
Karima bounced to national fame as a Duke University Blue Devils. And led her team to back-to-back regular-season and Atlantic Coast Conference tournament titles. She became the 27th player in Duke women’s basketball history to break the 1,000 mark for career points. Karima wrapped up her last year as a Blue Devil ranked 10th in school history in steals.
