Crenshaw, Bobby

Crenshaw, Bobby
HOF Class of 2018
Bobby Crenshaw was a cornerstone of Pasadena High School’s legendary 1958 football team that went 12-2 and reached the state championship game—the deepest playoff run in district history. An all-state lineman, Crenshaw went on to star at Baylor University, where he became a three-year letterman and co-captain of the 1963 Bears. That year, Baylor posted an 8–3 record, defeated LSU in the Bluebonnet Bowl, and finished in the national Top 20. Crenshaw’s dominance as a two-way lineman earned him first-team All-Southwest Conference honors, making him the first Pasadena ISD product to achieve that distinction.
While quarterback Don Trull and receiver Lawrence Elkins earned national headlines, Crenshaw was the anchor on both sides of the line—protecting Trull’s blindside on offense and punishing opponents on defense. He later represented Baylor in the East-West Shrine Game and Senior Bowl, and was drafted by both the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Oilers in 1964. Signed by the Oilers, his pro career was tragically cut short by a knee injury in his rookie preseason.
Crenshaw was later honored on Baylor’s All-Decade defensive team for the 1960s. After football, he gave back as a coach, including stints with Pasadena ISD athletic programs. He passed away in 2002 at the age of 61, remembered as one of the toughest and most impactful linemen ever produced by Pasadena.
