White, Lanny
HOF Class of 2014
Lanny White was a celebrated multi-sport athlete at Pasadena High School during the late 1960s, renowned for his power and speed in football and his prowess in baseball.
In football, White was a force at halfback, earning All-District honors twice and First-Team All-State recognition in his senior year. A memorable highlight of his career was a dramatic 67-yard game-winning reception against Port Neches in 1967. His exceptional talent was on full display in a district-opening victory against Baytown Sterling, where he amassed 311 rushing yards and scored 44 points. He also played a key role in a significant 13-13 tie against South Houston for the district North Zone title, scoring all of the Eagles' points to clinch the district scoring title.
Beyond football, White lettered in three sports. He was an equally formidable pitcher and hitter in baseball, helping lead the Eagles to the state finals in his senior year. During a playoff game against Galena Park en route to the state finals, White hit a home run and pitched a five-hit shutout. His powerful hitting was legendary, with one estimated 500-foot home run still considered the longest ever hit at the Memorial/Maguire Field diamond. Lanny White was inducted into the Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.
