Dr. Jorly Thomas, former principal of Dobie High School in Pasadena ISD is now the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction, bringing 27 years of transformative educational leadership. He champions the belief that talent is developed through deliberate practice, feedback, and continuous learning, fostering both academic achievement and personal growth.

Starting his career as a history teacher in 1998, Dr. Thomas progressed through roles as counselor, assistant principal, and principal. At Fred Roberts Middle School, he built a culture grounded in trust, courage, and empathy, earning multiple academic distinctions and the 2019 Model School Award. Returning to Dobie High School, he reduced student conflicts by over 60%, enhanced the school environment, and raised accountability scores to TEA ratings of 89 and 90. His dedication to student safety, inclusion, and academic progress led to his recognition as the 2024 Principal of the Year.

Dr. Thomas earned his Doctor of Education in 2023 and actively advocates for public education through the Raise Your Hand Principals Advocacy Fellowship.

Under his leadership, Dobie High School received the Texas CREST Award for its exceptional counseling program. In his current role, Dr. Thomas oversees professional development and coaches principals, continuing his commitment to inspiring growth, unlocking potential, and strengthening school communities through strategic, compassionate leadership.
